*The image no longer plays before her, she is a participant....though her adult form remains motionless, kneeling on the floor, tears streaming unchecked down her cheeks she is no longer in it, she is the child Yvette...she feels her mother push her roughly behind her yelling at her to run and she does, but only to the edge of the clearing..then she turns, hoping/expecting to see her mother behind her...yet instead, she watches. somehow everything coming to her in sharp detail...it seems as if the world is in slow motion as she watches the RUNner raise the gun, his finger slowly squeezing the trigger....her mind in its own childlike way, merely wondering why her mother just didn't move, if it was that slow surely she could avoid it....she can almost see the bullet as it leaves the gun, her eyes tracing its path.....then the world explodes back into action as her mother falls to the ground.. GUARDians seeming to rush in, as if from nowhere...she stands in mute shock as the Runners disperse, some falling to the ground dead, most vanishing into the surroundings....her eyes riveted upon the form laying prone on the ground..Then 'he' is there, cradling the body...her mothers blood smearing across his shirt front mingling with the tears he now sheds..she turns her head, startled as a hand lands lightly on her shoulder, turning her away..she relaxes slightly as she recognizes one of the GUARDians... 'he' raises his head to look towards his daughter, his grief plainly visible upon his face...for a brief moment their eyes meet and a weak, grief filled smile crosses her young face...yet even now behind her eyes there is a hint of anger...no matter how this event is rewritten it is one that forever changed who she was or would become, with her mother so died her innocence, her naivety, and most of her trust, no longer would she be as care-free as she had once been...the anger behind her eyes is undirected, merely a childs anger at the world for what it has revealed itself to be, but, in time it may alter..would it focus upon her father, forever angry at him for not being there fast enough?..or perhaps upon the RUNners for what they had done?....that is something that will be determined in time by both her heart and events...a rebellious streak that may turn either way*

*Psi-Warp sees the glint of anger, most likely knows it for what it is, he doesn't blame her for it, and its healthy... she needs it. As the scenes go over and over again, perhaps hundreds of times, thousands, searing into her brain and shoving away all else, creating a new memory, a new truth, his voice speaks in the background. This time, its not so much heard as it is absorbed... images flicker, but not like a theater screen, no. She is reliving each moment, truly reliving it, not just watching it, which is why Psi-warp's brand of brainwashing works so very well. His voice is more subliminal in this case, imparting information to make certain things more solid, connect threads. He repeats his words over and over again, so soft his voice, unheard but taken in, knowledge she'd have learned since the death of her mother, one way or another...* You read the report later, secretly, because you didn't want to hurt your father by asking him what had happened. But you were angry, hurt, you blamed your father for not saving your mother in time. Why couldn't he have /been/ there? *Its a prepared speech, he has it memorized, he might even have it written on index cards, but he drones on, subliminal, filling in the holes. Her mind will create the necessary images, false memories she'll never know weren't true. Easy enough to imagine a sneak into the fileroom... easy enough to imagine reading a report... easy enough indeed. The subconscious will do his work for him, fitting images to words...* But the report let you know... the RUNners had tricked the GUARD who were on their way to save you, knowing of the ambush, it was all a setup, a trap. The RUNners had learned who you were, the GUARD had intercepted the transmission, raced to save you and your mother. But the RUNners had purposefully allowed the transmission to be intercepted, attacked the GUARD on their way to rescue. They lost men that day, both sides, but good GUARDians died to cover the rest of the squad, who broke ranks to speed towards the true battle. The delay worked, your father and the rest arrived a fraction too late. Just that tiny amount which allowed for your mother's death. The RUNners had plotted vengeance and this is how they took it... *Warp repeats the story at a slow and measured pace... once, five, ten... maybe twenty times. When he finally finishes enough reps, he's in dire want of a glass of water. And a rest. This wasn't easy, he was beginning to tire to a dangerous point one he instinctively knew because of the queasiness in his belly and the heat on his skin. An exhaustion fever. But he keeps going, having this one time, and his orders. He doesn't become sloppy, he just wants to stop. 20 times he repeats his story... he's learned this is a good number. Too many times makes the message too dominant, too few and its too weak. 20 was a very good number and trial and error had taught him this the hard way. Shouldn't be much longer now... not much more left to do. Normally it didn't take this long anyway, but Venin was possessed of such a terribly strong will... course, it helped she'd been suffering of late, had dropped her defenses somewhat, had been twisted. This would hold, she's already secured that, assured, the moment she surrendered...*

*The scene continues to replay both in her head and before her eyes, a continuing torment she is unable to avoid....now totally rewritten...what was once the truth is now shattered and gone, replaced by this new truth one which she now fully believes as if no other truth had ever existed for her...her mind, fully susceptible, easily absorbs his explanation...by the fifth repitition she has accepted it, by the tenth she believes it, and by the twentieth repition she has fully relived it and knows it for the truth...she remembers 'acquiring' the password and breaking into the secured files...with what seems to be vivid clarity she remembers and feels the pain and anger upon learning the 'truth'...and how her doubts about GUARD and her father were assauged in that instant.....no longer does the desire for freedom and escape play foremost in her heart and mind, now she has once more become GUARD. With the elimination and recreation of those memories Venin the RUNner no longer exists, all that made her what she was is no more...Psiwarp has effectively created a new personna, one as yet untried, unknown...perhaps he can sift through her mind and find what she has become or perhaps he can only get a glimpse...yet some of the changes can already be seen, just upon her form...in her posture, her expression, her movements.....somehow she seems harder, her face no longer showing as much emotion as it once did, her eyes no longer as open,as honest seem almost shaded, as if she hides herself from all...*

*He sees it.... sees what he's been working so hard for, and he smiles very faintly; in the condition they're both in, Psiwarp so entagled in Yvette and her mind, he's privy to her emotions, the alterations, that the scheme worked, caught... she is his now. The minute indications stand out like a sore thumb, as the saying goes. /Good/. He wants a nap. Still, he's not quite finished. Wiping a fine mist of sweat off his upper lip and forehead, wholly unseen by Venin (and the gestures so subtle at this point, slow and measured), he implants the last of his own command... a trigger point for the memories. When the triggers are given, all else will be blasted aside, forgotten as they are now, replaced and unretrievable. Much like a hypnotist gives a catchword and then snaps his fingers to "awaken" the victim, waiting for the catchword to be given, and when it is the suggestion would be played out to the letter, Psiwarp slips his own in, all else taken* /Old Scratch/.../Mother/.... /Mom/..../family/ ... /death/... /shot/.../father/.... R.UN.ners/... any of these words will recall your mother's death, you'll remember the truth you hold here today, blasted back into your mind. How could you have forgotten? The RUNners have telepaths... /somehow/, they could have gotten in. Ei-Que, being so close to you, taught by Aerik... she could have gotten into your head, altered you, your mind. But your willpower is indominable, and it was only a matter of time before you would have broken thru anyway, foolish RUNners. If these conditions are not met within two months of your escape, your indominable willpower will work anyway, regardless of the trigger words' use. But you'll remain calm, and take you vengeance when the opportunity arises. Take them down for what they have done. Or it could have been Aerik himself. He /is/ so very powerful. How like him. He could have tampered with you long ago, isn't that his way? Toying with you, changing your alliances against your will... it would fit his M.O.... *so quietly he offers this, just subconscious reasons she would run thru for as /why/ she'd forgotten the truth. A psionic tampering by a RUNner would be a perfect reason, and Eclipse has been around for a long time... longer than Ei-Que in the field... absolute sense, and it would agree with what she knows about him. A game, nothing more, Eclipse in her head, years ago perhaps, playing her like a puppet. She might think up other reasons on her own, its a direction to push her in tho, when she questions how she could have been a RUNner, how she could have stayed with /Them/, when they had done this to her. No questions, tho, as to how she broke free of their influence, her will is unquestionably powerful, it just took a while for the truth to surface, and Aerik has been unseen for so long, his influence waning perhaps... these parts are intwined /under/ Psiwarp's words, subliminal inside subliminal, so subtle, so smooth... and locked. She won't question it, it'll be obviously the cause and reason, despite shields, despite all else, for won't she wonder how this could have happened? But even the questions will be pale, and the urge to discover anything solid about the answers will be pale as well... she will know the TRUTH... she will be locked in it. The RUNners completing vengence, perhaps, this final mind-altering they dared make and about the memory of her /mother/ for all things. It'd be so like Eclipse to do this, play games, hurt and manipulate. Wouldn't it? Even if not, it is NOW...* And now... forget this... forget this... forget... *its understood in his words; until the triggers are given or the time period is up, the memories won't come into play. But she'll feel it when they do, a snap in her head, as if a binding were broken, she'll feel it, she'll know, oh yes, she'll know the /truth/, for all time...*

*resentment flares as he offers up reasons.....Aerik...yes, it was Aerik...she had always disliked him, now there was more of a reason..* Aerik *a feral snarl creases her face as the one word quietly slips from her lips, the one word so quietly spoken yet filled with a deadly promise..so much hatred and resentment had been built towards him that her mind easily absorbs the reasoning, increasing her hatred of him tenfold...this is one she will hunt down....even her hatred of her father didn't match this, for he was still her father..Aerik was simply the enemy....It would be his style,to manipulate, to watch her change sides, to become the enemy that she hated.....gradually her anger fades, not entirely forgotten because it has its own base in her current state of mind, but the burning anger the desire to kill and hunt him down fades out, fades into he background.....as the memories fade into the background to hide, he can watch the masks as they are removed one at a time...placed into storage until they triggered to appear once more, gradually her wary guarded look fades, then the rebellion, then the pained anguish seems to dissolve giving way to the resigned look she wore when first she entered*

*Thank God it was almost over. The last things now... even as she forgets, as it bleeds away and vanishes as he intructed, Psiwarp nudges the last bit in, using voice, to /just/ catch and sit in her mind, just a reminder* Remember your training... *It had been a long time, so better he helps her out with it, and with it comes a multitude of meanings... /remember your training/.... remember you are GUARD, remember your duty is to bring back RUNners, don't lose the opportunity, don't rage when you remember, report in, of course, but don't lose the facade, -get them back for this-... * Forget. *its the last thing he says to her, and it nudges her mind, shuts it down in a twist. He calls the cyhunters back in.... they'll guide her back to her cell, as one would guide a sleepwalker. They'll put her back into the position they found her in, pushups.... no way to measure the passage of time in her cell save for the metronome of water drops, but even that will be perfectly timed thanks to the cybermemory of the hunters. She won't 'snap out of it' till the Hunters have fully departed, and then she'll just continue where she left off, unknowing, nothing happening, right in mid-count, not a microsecond's difference....*

*remember...your...training....the words repeat in the back of her mind like a dull echo, bringing back to the surface of her mind all that she had been taught as a GUARDian..their values, their rules... all that she had ignored through her years of rebellion once more resurfaced....then once more it fades out....leaving her with a glazed look, her mind floating in a void.....There is no reaction as the cyhunters reenter the room...even now, with her in this state they once more fasten the shackles and collar on her, following regulations...no objecrtions are raised form her as they nudge her to stand and guide her towards the door, she merely moves mechanically, guided by the meerest touch in a direction...she is guided silently back to her cell and placed back into position...the Hunters retreat....and she moves....155, 156...she continues the pushups as if she had never been interrupted...157,158...her mind picking up the count from where she left, her ears registering the fading footsteps of the Hunters, assuming they had merely come down for a check...159,160... she continues, unaware of anything having happened to her....the thoughts of her mother and her past once more running rampant in her head*

*Once Venin is in her cell, the Hunters return to the small white room... PsiWarp is still there, but now so is Rikky, PsiClone, waiting. As per orders, Rikky softly tells the HUnters to relax, which they do, and having their compliance and the commands (for he can't go into the minds of a superior without permission or authorization), he mindwipes them of the event. They turn and leave, back to their posts, remembering nothing of the incident, of taking Yvette from her cell. Just another uneventful day on duty at their posts. They haven't even lost time. Rikky walks with Warp back to his room, half-holding the blonde ESPer up, assisting him into his bed. A glass of water, he'll eat later, and Rikky brushes his forehead even as the other falls into a deep, coma-like sleep. He won't remember this happened, Rikky places a false memory in its place... a very hard training session, a test of abilities, one of those limit-pushing ones... and its done. Then Rikky enters the gym, strolls to the olympic-sized pool, changes his clothes in the shower room, and even as he dives into the water, his own mind is wiped. And just before that, the silent waves goes out, touches minds.... allows for the return of Venin, a wary kind of watchfullness should she appear rather than the reflex of killing her on sight. She'll be well-guarded, but allowed back in, and dubiously trusted if she contacts via voice (phone/communicator) first. Then its over and no one, save one alone, the wiser for it....*
