Jesse gets her head fixed
~EI-QUE~
/-\ Tranquil, calm, collective. Just as she was when she felt the
link wither and die. She had shut down all other facets to her
mind.. even to Aerik. Pinching off one by one, not so much scared
to venture inwards anymore. She continued with her daily
routine.. as if nothing really DID happen. As if she could have
cared less. Her facade, was fimly in place, a cold spindle that
wove an exterior of glass.. over unfeeling ice. She barely
aknowlaged Venin as she wandered in that night, and did not
really regard her for the next few days. Perhaps a simple nod.
But nothng more. Withdrawing feircly if Yvette even tried to
touch her. Though she continued.. like a marrionette on strings
thrown to the wind.. chaos filled her mind... but her face.. her
demeanor never let a drop of it seep though. She sat idly, in her
room then.. thinking back. Almost mildly interested in the past
events.. that the only emotion.. if it could be called that..
noticable behind her deep brown eyes. Giving her again.. a reason
to be justly deemed the ice bitch. She sat involved in her
transmitter fluctuating device she had devised in her spare
time.. between that and sleeping. Which she had been doing a lot
of. Some say that people deal with loss.. in different ways. Hers
was just down right empty. She entered the living room. One hand
poised gracefully along the hall wall leading in. The other
dangling losely at her side. Glancing once at Venin.. and turning
away. Near discuted? Near dissapointed? Guilty? One could not
teel in that fleeting glance... instead she simply was no longer
there. But back in her room. Away from Venin.. and if Guild
happened to be there. Not expecting or WANTING either of them to
pester her further. /-\
~INDIGO~
**Kelsin sits typing on her computer, working on her report for
the college course she takes by mail... correspondance. Things
have been wild lately, and any psionic who'd even tried to travel
/near/ the GUARD HQ had gotten severe slaps to the psyche,
warnings. And a powerful presence was at work there. Kelsin knows
who it is by now, and the knowledge alone has been giving her
horrible nightmares of late... or perhaps it was part of the
punishment for encroaching on /His/ space. She doesn't know and
simply keeps typing, weary and spent, frightened, tired**
~VENIN~
*sits semi-reclined on the sofa, gazing listlessly into the
embers of the dying fire. Scenes from the mall playing through
her head. She rubs the shoulder that had the spear jammed through
it, as she contemplates methods of revenge. A slight noise makes
her look up, catching the departing shadow of Jessie...she's not
taking it right, nothings been right for a while now...softly she
calls out* Jess? *
/-\ She near despised her name shortened like that.. only two people.. in all of creation could call her that. One of which was gone.. the other she had not seen in ages. She glanced behind her and shut her door. Sitting on her bed, her hands smoothing out tiny creases and imperfections thoughout the comofrter. She blinked down at it.. near thankful she could not hear Venin's thoughts.. debating the solidity of her sheilds. Taking tender fingers of thoughts.. and pressing outwards on them.. not as fearful of her mind.. but still not foolish enough to test them with a psionic blast. They bent slightly at the mildest of touches, and she sat calmly. Rebuilding them. SOMETHING to do in this TERRIBLY drab lifestyle Yvette seemed to lead. A small gesture with her mind. making more walls.. though wach as weak as the first. Like several layers of a thin skined onion. When satisfied they were where she'd be safe.. she stood. Only to turn.. perfecting the bedspread again.. and to look at her door. hearing her name echo suddenly.. though it was not called a second time. She did not respond.. other than a half-lidded look. That look just as emty as all the others. /-\
**A sudden sigh, explosive and frustrated. She couldn't concentrate... the words weren't coming out right, her fingers felt thick and graceless. She pushes back in her chair and glares balefully at the monitor** ....crap. **she stands, smoothing her shirt and jeans, and walks softly into the kitchen. She could feel, vaguely, the constant natural link to her twin brother in the back of her mind. In a small daze, Kelsin reaches for a glass and pours from the cold two liter of diet coke she stores in the fridge**
*She hears the door shut. The noise seeming to almost echo in the quiet surrounding the place...I've been hiding out, in my nice quiet safehouse way too long, it's time for action...her gaze travels up towards Jesse's room..but first i have something to do...She slowly stands, the remaining injuries making it an aching process, and heads up. She stops before Jesse's door, hand raised to knock. She hesitates a moment then gently taps on the door* Jesse?
/-\ She turned again, away from the door. Not bothering with a yes. Not bothering with a come in. More disturbed that the woman was knocking. though she refused to let any of it show. With the taps, the door swung slightly a jar. She did not turn to see Yvette. Appearing preoccupied with making her room a bit neater.. and well anything to save having to carry on a conversation with the woman. /-\
*The door opens just as she was about to reach for the handle...damn I hate it when she does that...She stands there a sec, watching you ignore her, hesitating on what to say.....* Jesse. We gotta talk.
/-\ She looks blanky at Yvette, her brow arched, and her eyes searching. As if to suggest.. what was there to talk about. She ignored the woman after staring intently for a few moments. She wanted to be alone.. away. Thinking back near -fondly- of GUARD HQ.. at least there no one ever bothered her. They just left well enough alone. She did her job.. and went away.... it was better like that. Even there her life seemed to have a purpose. Seeming as if in this deep thought she pressed by Yvette. Careful not to touch her, or to acknowledge her further /-\
**soda finished, she glances about the kitchen, tossing her long thick braid from her shoulder, the plait of dark brown hair whipping across her back. A sigh and she folds her arms, lost in thought**
*watches your blank emotionless expresion, a strange mix of anger and pity surfacing within her...this isn't Jesse, she had come so far, only to be pushed back... As you try to brush by she reaches out, grabbing your arm* Damn it jesse! I can't stand to see you like this, you've reverted. I hate this damn shell of yours.
/-\ She pulls away, near violently. Looking flatly into her eyes.. face to face. The facade cold and near intimadating. /-\ Do not touch me... /-\ He voice was flat, and smooth as a stangite pond, and her tone was light. A near whisper. After the rm was wrenched loose, she touched the spot where Venin touched.. and continued on.. to wherever she was going. She paused, reaching into her pocket. Noting the poskets were to a pair of jeans Alan picked out.. and so was the shirt. her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. She pressed the button on the keyring twice.. dissapearing from the house, and reappering at The Mall, which was partially under construction.. and still open 24 hours. Her eyes narrowed more. The first place her mind ventured to.. the first place her body decided to appear. Her thumb lightly touching the button to leap to the Tavern.. but it hesitated. The escolators were working.. so was the electricity. Curious now.. on how this could have been repaired so fast. Noting a sign dangling above the directory.. explaining there was a malfunction in a circut breaker.. and the Optional Orlando Parity Systems.. or the OOPS program was taking care of it. Her eyes widened a bit.. knowing the program. One GUARD used as a flashy cover for such.. mihaps. She glanced around.. with enough money.. even contractors worked fast. Pasuing yet again as her thumb lingered over the button.. seeing placed not cleaned, or repaired.. and blinking wandering near them. Not caring if GUARD personal were at the site.. or if they even knew who she was. Just staring blankly.. dumbfounded. Almost the moment things became -real- /-\
*the suddenness of your move startles her, she wasn't prepared for quite such a violent action, she takes a half-step back at your look...that isn't jesse. Damn it!that isn't even the old jesse....She steps towards you to stop you. She wants to talk, at least guage the situation. she almost wishes she had some telepathy or empathy..anything that might help her with jesse..She watches you vanish, wondering if she should attempt to follow, or leave you on your own for a while*
/-\ She turned.. looking.. quietly. Her thoughts turning like a small raging storm. Somehow not able to confront them. As always for her... THough she somehow mastered in that small time.. to supress the emotional demon that persisted.. that kept filtering in.. making her life a living hell. Closing her eyes.. feeling everything crumble from beneath her. Like the solidity of the ground itself had forsaken her. Everything she depended on.. relied on.. was slowly turning to dust around her. Leaving her in limbo.. and unsure of WHAT to do. She blinked.. as thoughts.. vauge at first flooded her mind, as her sheilds phased out. Revealing her.. to scanners from GUARD.. other telepaths.. everything. The whole kitten kaboodle unraveling. She blinked blind to it at first. unacccepting. even in her worst states she had managed a small sheild.. an absence of power.. even a miniscule telapath could master that. Small problems of the petty lives of everyoine around her filled her thoughts.. wrapping her problems in theirs. - My hair is a mess..- -Like o'mi'gawd' jonni likes Cini not me I am gonna die. - I wish I had that NEW sports car- - aw shit I am going to miss the Spice Girls Concet- I am too fat- I wish Buffy would give in and let me.. - She blinked. And stood there.. slowly as the keys fell from her grasp. These were people''s PROBLEMS? While she.. she who figured hers were at the mild end of the scale.. were catistrouphic compared to this. Her mind recoiled.. like a vicous snake, as all the shilding fell. As the keys did, to her knees. A few people gawking.. poiting .. laughing at her.. was this misery? She had no way to tell? - Look at that- freak- wierd girl- my gawd who dressed her this morning?- is she okay- okayo- okay?- She looked at them all.. a low and enraged look. A fire deep with in her eyes... nothing preventing their minds from hers.. and she slowly picked them off one by one. Much like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Ripping and tearing.. mind after mind that DARED to mingle with hers. A last line of defence.. killing.. watching them.. more than guilt free fall helplessly to the ground. Their minds a pudlle of whatever WAS there to begin with. Her hands pressed against her temples.. and her mouth elongated.. a scream. Deafening.. soul pericing. Sending blasts, and fragments of everything.. every which way. Wanting to regain SILENCE.. god SILENCE /-\
**Sudden pain shoots through the girl's head.. its devastating, the anguish, the /anger/, the hurt and grief that blinds her vision a moment. In sympathy, she drops to her knees, curls up and wails loudly, hands over her ears as if that would keep the hurt away... god, the /hurt/... it sears and brands. Someone... somewhere... telepath. Even her impressive shields are ripped through for a moment, shields another taught her to hold, albeit she didn't know at the time -who- had taught her, and the cruelty with which it had been taught would never be forgotten, but it had toughened her, separated her from the "lesser' psionics. Still... this manages to cleave through before she can stop it. Luckily, no one is there to hear her, no one rushes in and she holds it back from the link with her brother, who can't defend against such things. Slowly she gathers herself again, shields back up, strengthening, but not before she traces the source back, finds the point of origin, as taught. Her blue eyes narrow, mind racing to shut out the pain, close the centers off, regain control of her gifts. Then she's out the door... the place the pain came from wasn't overly far away. Blue fire ignites and carries her on a wave of heat to The Mall, her own powers telling those who look up and catch a glance she -is not there-... and they forget. It takes a few minutes, but eventually she alights in the tangle of steele girders at the reconstruction. The OOPS? She doesn't understand that, but heads in, searching visually and mentally, lowering a shield about the place. Hopefully.. hopefully she can contain it and deal with the situation before others can work their way in and do even more damage** ...Hello...?
*She decide to let Jesse be...for now...she painfully walks into the kitchen, her eyes falling on a leather jacket haphazardly thrown into a distant corner. She stiffly walks over to pick it up* what t.. her words falla way as she recognizes the gauged blood stained jacket as being the one she wore in the battle. She stares at it in disbeleif, uncertain, until now, how bad she had been hurt. Shakily she searches in the pockets pulling out bit of ID, then disposes of it*
/-\ Her eyes wide, and her mouth open.. panting.. breathing... gasping. All of it to go away.. all of it to dissapear.. all of it to perish. Simply wanting to destroy. Not looking to the littered bodies of a few shopers.. patrons to the shops that managed to open again, or the workers who were slain. She didn't care.. the silence. The quiet.. only disturbed ocassionally by a distant stranger.. who was again quickly silenced. She spared those who kept their thoughts to themselves.. who (even if they did not know they were doing so) projecting each thought.. like a piercing dagger into her own. Her heaving chest.. sweat collecting on her brow. She turned quickly ruthlessly.. a verbal intrusion. offset by the whimpers, and the moaning of those still dying. Her eyes were bright with fury.. her hands clawed to her head. A thin line where her lips were... and tears of grief? Rage? She could no longer distinguish the two. For emotions unlike wine.. do not taste better bottled up.. and given age. She lashed out to Kelsin too, stronger.. and with a verbal shout too. /-\ LEAVE ME ALONE....... DON'T TOUCH ME! /-\ Falling deeper and deeper in the recesses of her own mind.. and at this point not bothering to try and fight her way back. It felt near relaxing.. the pain somehow which she felt was just. And the rational side of her felt she deserved. The total release.. and limpness of logic draped amongst the rubbish and ruin that was the current state of her mind. While the emotional wildcat lashed, and fought whatever came near her. Sending blast after blast.. not caring about any repercusions/-\
**She takes the smallest moment to glance about at the carnage, the moaning bodies of the dying, the twisted bodies of the dead... her expression is one of utter horror, for unlike her teacher, who would never /care/ about such things, Kelsin had her morals, her scruples, her foundations set. She'd never broken. Eyes fantastically large, mouth agape, her sights settle on the slender, blue haired loveliness of Jesse... who, with her face scrunched in fury, her brown eyes wet, appears anything /but/ docile. She doesn't know Jesse... but she knows what's happening** ....oh. My. GOD. What're you...? **she trails off.. stupid question, it was apparent. The girl was breaking, killing, raging. Kelsin is no stranger to battles, she knows well what to do and the tightened, specialized shields slam about them, exclude any but the two girls, keeps the psionics contained in a small radius. Jesse will have to kill Kelsin before she can kill another innocent... they're abilities are rival, but Kelsin isn't storming out of control... a bonus. And then the attack.. thank god the shields were up in time. The lash is horrible, strong, directed and fueled by emotion. Okay... clean the emotion out and only the power remains. Kelsin filters and blocks the rest, deflecting. She's still fresh for now, but she can tell this could get very difficult very fast. And on top of it all, she has to /search/. Her words are soft, calm, sweet soprano** Calm down... I won't touch you. Tell me what's wrong...
*she take sone more look up the hall to jesse's room, then as a precaution, she sets her bracelet to track the residual traces of jesse's 'transport', just in case*
/-\ The transport shows a single location.. with the bleep not moving. Still on the Earth realm.. at The Mall... /-\
*a low moan escapes her as she notices the location of the transport, without hesitation she transports to the alley where she met allan. A brief smile passes her lips as she remembers the start of that day, then she turns and stares at the mall* why here jesse?
/-\ She just stared.. her teeth gritting, her lips parting. Her cheeks fevered. Frustrated now.. that this.. this woman was deflecting her blasts. That she was so easily containing it all.. but suddenly.. within that containment.. there was silence. A soft deafening tone.. only accompanied by the pulse that ran though her ears, and the girl talking. She winced, and blinked. Startled.. at how quiet it became. Her hands fell from her ears, and leaving rd lines down the sides of her feace. Though her vision was bocked by tears.. the serenity she longed for. Somehow content.. and scared.. the voice that pissed her off again. She turned.. jerking her head around.. her gaze thin.. narrow, aimed. But then.. the serenity washing over as the words stopped.. Her jaw relaxed as so did her teeth.. her breathing in quick spurts. hyperventilating. Culing her knees beneath her.. while still balancing on the soles of her feet. Her tights pressed to her chest.. rocking.. then commenting. /-\ It's quiet.. so /-\ The thought was flashed gone.. wrong what was wrong? She near scofed.. looking at the woman. Her mouth arched in a wicked smile. And laughter contained only by a choking sob. She simply turned away. Stuborn.. hurt.. alone. /-\ leave me alone... /-\ impatient though the rquest was just made she insists /-\ LEAVE ME ALONE!
**Kelsin watches, eyes flickering over every tiny alteration of Jesse's face, every action and lack of action. Scrutinizing. Oh god... this girl was so close to breaking, and fighting too. Fighting herself. What had she.. no, HE... said about situations like this? Find the stronger side. Seek it out... hopefully its the side you won't have to fight and you can use it to win. Kelsin tips her head, listens now to Jesse screech that she wants to be alone** ...You're at odds, split. I can help you be whole again, end this. **so very quiet, so calm and musical, like a lullabye** Let me help you... **the shields remain, and she won't just /let/ Jesse walk away...**
*a grimace of disgust crosses her face as she observes the OOPS contruction sign hanging in the doorway..same old cover, don't they ever use originality?...her expression changes abruptly as she notices the fallen bodies, most contorted in pain strewn about the mall. Cautiously she listens for the sound of action before she notices the bodies show no visible wounds. Her hand on her gun she cautiously looks about the mall, fully expecting another guard attack*
/-\ Glaring at her, protective. Still two parts of the same whole, with the same ideals in a sense. /-\ Don't touch my mind.. I swear heaven help me I'll kill you.. leave me alone.. /-\ breath raking sobs.. of confusion. And no other source.. no other side that was visable. She rocked somehow.. then stopped crying. Just stopped.. but continued to rock.. ever so lightly. Feeling safe.. but weary. Countering the words with more... and the words tone.. did effect some. Her mind.. at total acess to even the mildest of Telepaths.. certinly to her. Not hearing anything.. but the help.. the help she did not need. Suddenly she hated.. spiking that emotion.. did this woman see her as imcompitent? incapiable of rationalizing simple emotions.. and putting together ends and odds of HER own mind? Near jumping up and strangling the woman.. but heistating.. her mind.. preoccupied with simpler problems.. mumbling. Incoherently.. /-\ I dropped my keys I think .. I dropped them I need them ..
**She hears the threat clearly, nods slowly at it, eyes never leaving Jesse's face. Rocking... not a good sign, but then, neither were dead store patrons. Silently, Kelsin sighs. Damn. This girl was forcing her hand and kelsin is LOATHE to simply step in, do what she wants, take and change. Its simply not her to do such. But she weighs the options... do nothing and /try/ to reason with Jesse, who's name, by now, has leaked over, so utterly defenseless as her mind is... but she wasn't up for reasoning with, her thoughts scattering and mumbling about keys. Or.. she could bulldoze over the open mind and fix it... glue it back together because it was falling apart even as they stood there, and while it wouldn't normally prompt her to action, this girl was a /telepath/ and hardly a weak one. There /were/ no options, Kelsin realizes as she hears a moan from a dying shopper** I won't touch you. Promise. **her mind coils inward, and suddenly lashes back out, a strike of gentle power for Jesse's fractured mind, seeking, directly, the source of the fissure... like a supersonic squirt of glue...**
/-\ And she felt it.. blinking and standing.. her hands in front of her, as if to ward away an attack.. But feeling instead.. all the tossing, turmoil, parts of things.. falling.. sticking. She blinked, suddenly. Trying desprately to pull a facade.. to raise a sheild.. to do anything logical. Instead she stood there dumbfounded. She stepped a bit back, her feet not responding. And the death nor regestering. Staring at this woman.. the suprise evidant on her face . She tried to speak, but her lips fumbled over eachother. Her lips soaked with tears, and her cheeks wet. Presing her fingers there absently. Feeling the mositure, hoping it was pat of what she felt in her mind. /-\ I.. I /-\ Though no other words escaped. Mild mannered, though a twinge of chaos.. frozen in place. /-\
**Good... the psionic glue had taken. She'd been a bit worried, the other also a telepath. Kelsin straightens and gets down to the -real- work at hand. Keeping the actions gentle, and fighting back a churning in her stomach, Kelsin reaches into the defenseless mind even deeper... seeks the source of the disturbance. She needs to make /whole/ not just do a shotty job in rebinding, but reseaming. A total unity so it couldn't fall apart again** ...you... what, Jesse? **whispered, but talking to keep the other calm, distracted**
/-\ Her hand brushed against the side of her temple again. Blinking as she stared into space.. then back at Kelsin. She had completely forgotten. Her movments timid, confused. Disoriented. A spinning vortex, with no stop and not begining. Though she was frightened.. feeling things stick.. feeling them gently being rearranged. She felt no imposing threat. The Anger of someone in her mind.. eased as it felt too that it was helping. Her emotions flicking like a serpent's tongue.. this way and that. Tasting the hands that cradled each.. becoming familiar, and more withdrawn. Her hands fell from the total outstretched pose.. to a half bet warning. More like a tired rattle snake, now to fatigued to even rattle it's tail. She tilted her head up, over. As if studying Kelsin. But not doing so.. not putting in perspective anything. Excpet what the girl was doing.. was working. And well . /-\ I.. do not remember
**yes, wonderful... the resulting reactions, the calm, the blending, was desirable. Kelsin doesn't let up, she wants the unity of mind... mix the two halves, the two side of the whole, back into one functioning unit. Astral threads 'sew' thoughts together, seamless, perfect, the kind of skill and result that almost only comes with being one of /his/ students. He despised sloppiness and punished severely for it. Subtle, winding, indirect... she was taught all this. Careful manipulation, precision and knowledge... cutting edge of telepathy. Those who know his methods well enough might recognize his signature which he imparted to each of his pupils. His own unique brand of psionic dealings, they all bear it if they learned anything at all, and anyone incapable of learning was done away with as being too worthless to allow to live. So she keeps working, hating how she's doing it, the barging in, far too much like /his/ methods. She didn't like him, not at all. Respect, yes, but like..? Hardly. Kelsin begins to wrap the process up, clipping the sutures as it were, after checking the handiwork out first, taking status. Did it work? would it hold? Was she whole?** That's okay.. it doesn't matter.
/-\ She blinked still, in the near same state of mind.. astonished. She carefully looked back at Kelsin. Her mind indded whole, but so scared to venture into it, near it. Clasping her hands at her chest and pullin gthem close... finally closing her eyes.. slamming her shields up.. with a huge sigh of relief. The wave of utter relief. An absiw was still empty. She shut her eyes, her shoudlers trembling. Like touring a ruined house after a typhoon. Seeing everything better than the way you had put it. Sending out a small spindle.. a gentle link.. filled with gratitude, what was washed out immensely. One might think that she was only mildly grateful. Especially those who did not know her. Then blinking. Hearing quiet again. Too much. Reaching out and feeling only Kelsin's mind in the vicinity. She creased open her eyes.. and gasped.. slowly. Taken aback.. by the entire scene. And doing something she probably should not have. More an instict.. wiping it completly from her mind. She stood there amidst it all Looking back at Kelsin. The send still strong. Flowing towards the woman. Something familiar about her, Jesse instanly placed it. Not mentioning a word, instead casting a downward glance. /-\
**Done. Kelsin sighs in relief and pulls her mind back where it belongs, slowly and carefully, back into herself. It may have been an easy excercize for her teacher, but it wasn't for her. She was tired, drained. Wasn't easy restoring a mind so lost and raging. Jesse's shields go back up and Kelsin arches a brow at them. They were inpressive... very impressive and well layered, rotating shell over shell. The brown-haired girl's eyes narrow slightly, but she smiles, her own specialized shield dropping. She gives a look of astonishment, however, at the mindwipe, and checks for survivors, though she may not be able to heal them.. still, she can get their minds going in the right direction. That done, she's wholly tired and simply wants a nap, but a wash of gratitude, pale and thin, is striking her, small bit of horror, the wipe, and the sending again. Kelsin smiles broader** I think you should rest, Jesse.
Kelsin /-\ She did not even ask her name. She simply scrambled on the ground looking for the keys. Grasping them tightly.. fumbling at the send slightly. Though there was turmoil in her mind, it was natrual. Containable.. and not 'messy' A small uneasy smile edged at the up most corners of her lips.. while her mind did ache, though NOW she was not quite sure how it could have expended itself in such a way. Wiping away hot tears, that welled.. blinking at then quizzicly. ~ Thank you.. ~ Rasing her neck, looking at their surroundings. Stepping back.. staring at the place she felt Alan's link die. It was here.. no a bit more to the left? Feeling her heart plumit for a bit.. she shook away it all.. spooked.. irked, whatever you would like to label it. And vanished.. after another quiet ~ Thank you~
You're welcome. **she watches for the few moments before Jesse leaves. She'd been an open book for awhile, kelsin free to learn whatever she'd have liked. And of a telapath, its so rare that even the most scrupulous might allow it. Not so kelsin. She was still feeling ill from the perceived violation of Jesse's mind. Her stomach tossed and heaved, and its only after Jesse vanishes, that she allows it to show. The death here, the senseless damage and killing. The poor people, the bullying over another... she almost wretches, but instead puts her head downward, takes some deep breaths, eyes closed. She's done what she can and there is nothing more she can do. She doesn't fly home, but takes a taxi, so she can think, alone, for awhile, and try to forget the blank, agonized stares of the dead eyes in The Mall...**
