Small chat amongst Hunters, Ex and bounty alike
Ace:
*the bounty hunter, in a time when bounty hunters were not often
used, was well respected, not for her charms so much... as for
the fact that everyone knew that very few had escaped her once
she had been offered a bounty.. and accepted... as well as her
high principles, a scarcity for bounty hunters, at the moment,
she was talking to some government agents.. nodding slightly....
before turning on her heels, and strolling down the streets of
Seattle, heading towards her home where her bike was being kept*
Venin:
*She walked down the street oblivious to all in her path her
thoughts occupied elsewhere.....her mind kept wandering back
through the past, events that had altered her life, things that
had changed her forever, things that can never be
undone.....somehow in her random wanderings she kept returning to
old familiar places...The tavern, Spokane, Seattle.....she had
even been to the site of the old HQ..they were rebuilding, soon
their prescence would be back....her wanderings were more to keep
the others from finding her, she didn't need that, not yet, she
wasn't ready to face them, those that had risked so much to save
her....she owed them much, but what could she offer, except
perhaps betrayal*
*she passed within inches of Venin, and though she noted her, she was too busy with her new 'bounty'... she had to get across to Russia... dead or alive they'd asked for.. preferably alive... however, the other thing that many of them had complained about was that Ace didn't take them alive... the sort of people who came hunting for Ace to do a job for her, were not high-principled men... they wanted them alive to torture... perhaps, if Ace were more confident of their motives, she'd capture them alive for jailing purposes, but the fact was that that was not why they were wanted alive... they were wanted alive to set an example... an example of 'you think the worst fate is death? think again'... and she would not be a party to that. So she killed her targets... unless she thought upon meeting her targets she'd been conned...*
*Her watch beeps the hour and she looks down at it then back up at a nearby streetsign* damn! I'm gonna miss him *she turns and breaks into a jog heading towards the dive where she temporarily lives....she wanted to see what her newest source has managed to pick up on GUARD actions...she hadn't been totally inactive since her 'disappearing' act..not that she would actually use the info to destroy them, she couldn't bring herself to do that....but she could and would haul anyone she could away from their clutches*
*she was not the only staying in that dive... Ace also stayed there... not her bike though, that was stored elsewhere, though Ace had to pass by to pick up some important equipment... heading into the place she was staying, or at least the grounds, only moments before Venin... then she spun around as she sensed Venin, her senses always on the alert, immediately calming down as she saw Venin... though she wondered if it was a co-incidence... unknowingly, she'd also arrived a few moments /after/ Venin's contact... who, in a coincidence, was also the person who usually set up her meetings with bounty hunters...* Venin. *she was perfectly at ease... indeed, though it would seem funny, she seemed more at ease here alone than in the bar where everyone had been on her side..* Following me? *it was playful... why should Venin follow /her/... she hung around with the freaks fully capable of destroying her if they acted first... why bother with following someone who was a human.. fully... as far as they were concerned...*
*As she passed through the rusty gates she stopped... a familiar figure was in the overgrown courtyard, and it wasn't the one she had expected...Ace? she kept running into that girl.....* You again? *she sort of half chuckles* naww, you wouldn't know it if I was *She slowly walks into the courtyard* What you doing here?
You overestimate your own skills. *she gave a light, friendly chuckle* Or possibly underestimate mine. *she gave an amused smile* I live here. At least for now... why else?
or you don't know me as well as you think *she shakes her head in disbelief* you live her too? *a frustrated sigh leaves her lips* damn *she gives another half chuckle* looks lilke I can't go anywhere without encountering someone
*she shrugged* Perhaps not... though let's not argue about whether your trailing skills are as good as my alertness skills... *she gave a silent chuckle* Why does it matter if you bump into me every now and then? Is that really such a problem?
*she shrugs* it don't matter *she looks over at you* Just do me a favour and stay out of my business and I will do you the favour of staying out of yours...We both have dealings we rather weren't known...and I would prefer it if my location wasn't exposed *she arches an eyebrow* do we have a deal?
I dunno Yvette. *for the first time /using/ her name other than as a poke at her or an insult... but as a formality... not /friendship/ as such... Ace didn't have many friends that were involved with her through her work.... and she was, though it might not seem that way... but respect..* If I say yes, then I'm expected to turn a blind eye if it turns out that you're doing things that I am usually payed to put a halt to... or paid to bring back other people who do those things...
I only got one thing I'm doing *She leans back against a wall and pulls out a smoke*And if your sniffing anywhere around it, then I would advise you back out *she takes a long drag* I don't care how much people are paying ya
If you're talking about your little band of freaks... *she shrugged* I don't get payed to interfere with that. And if you think your little freaky powers scare me, you have no idea.... *they unnerved her a little... but only because it was on Earth, she'd dealt with far stranger things... just never on Earth... not in this time period...*
*she taps her nose* right on the nose ...if you were gettign paid, It would definitely be by the wrong side...then we would have problems *her shoulders shake with a low chuckle* I don't care if they scare you or not
*she shrugged* Why would they bother paying me? I'm normal... *or at least, relatively so....* What can I do that they can't do themselves? *she shrugged* Though one idjit obviously did think I was getting paid by them... that was right before I smashed him and enabled one of yours to escape.... *meaning the whole Blackdagger incident at the rave...*
*shrug* periodically someone gets the bright idea of trying something different *she takes a final drag off the smoke, dropping the butt to the ground and crushing it out underneath the sole of her cowboy boot....she looks you over* So where exactally do you sit in this anyhow?
*she gave her a keenly intelligent look, wrapping her jacket covered with badges around her...* That's a good question. At the moment I'm weighing up my options. Your side seems decent... you've already had one chance to kill me and you let me live. On the other hand there was the old man... maybe he just can't control his troops when they tried to kill me... but he assures me that you're renegades to be hunted down. I am uncertain of where to stand here... *flipping a coin in the air* Maybe what decides me is the toss of a coin. Maybe one of you blows your 'friendly' cover... Maybe one of you finally realises that a bounty hunter, can be an incredibly useful asset and spill the dough... maybe I just continue as I'm going, taking out any who stand in my way... *she shrugs* Though the last seems foolhardy. And I have my principles... money could not be enough to get me involved in something of this magnitude. Where do you think I should stand? *an amused smirk*
*sneer crosses her face a tthe mention of the 'old man'...she knows who that is, she had heard of the encounter...* And I oculd tell you whatever I wanted to about them *she shrugs* but I won't...as for the coin toss, you can always try it... however that would prove your unpredictablity, and the results could terminate in your death *she shakes her head* I'm not saying its a clear line...not all GUARD are bad, and not all of us are exactally ethical..nothing is 100%..... as for paying a bounty hunter *the last words almost a scoff* that ain't gonna happen any time soon....we have enough people with the trianing and skills to do the job.... however, just taking out people that get in your way could get you in a lot of trouble depending who you take out
*she nodded* That is what I had already figured out... I'm no fool. Tossing a coin for such an important decision... I think not. I am not so sure you are right about not needing a bounty hunter mind you... but still... *she shrugged* Which leaves the final option... wait till one of you blows your friendly cover. And I don't mean an individual... eventually, I'll figure it out. But for now... *she shrugs* On a different matter entirely, I was wondering how you felt about becoming a bounty hunter yourself? *she gave an amused smirk* Anonymity guaranteed... and for someone like you, it's an easy way to gain quick cash... *her glasses covering the emotions in her eyes* I don't like you. I definitely don't trust you... however, the fact that you're here rather than back at your farmhouse where you were last staying... leads me to suspect that you're running away. What better way to run away?
good, I had credited you with at least some brains, glad they show through *she shakes her head* theres a lot more to it than what you will ever figure out, it goes back a generation....don't even bother trying *She chuckles* thanks, but no thanks...I only have one goal right now..as for money, *an amused smile crosses her face* I got a lot of that.....and the farm..is no more
A shame, really it is... I would have liked to work with you. *then she smirks, shrugs, slinging the bag over her shoulder* I don't need to find it all out though. Just enough... *heading into the building again* Goodbye Yvette. If you change your mind... well... talk to me after I've gotten back from journey... *not mentioning her target... though she realised Yvette would most likely guess it was a bounty she was after... she saw no reason to confirm the suspicions, and definitely none to say who the bounty was, and where he would be...*
I'm not into taking people out just because they pissed the wrong people off ...thanks anyhow *she shakes ehr head* no..you don't...believe me, its best if you stay out of it all **she nods as you turn to leave* guess I will be seeing you around. *G* Happy hunting *she noticed how you avoided mentioning where you were going, but she's got a good idea that you are after a job, she just wanted to get teh little barb in*
*she shrugged* Believe me, not a one that I've killed hasn't deserved it. Though the Professor would argue differently... *she admitted* And I *can't* stay out of it.. my mentor would think so little of me.. *and she didn't mean her combat mentor... that much was obvious... again, she meant the Doctor... to just ignore what was going on... he had brought her up to interfere in the side of right, and even as a bounty hunter... she'd generally done that* I just can't...
I'm not so sure if they or their families would think so *sigh* fine, don't be surprised if both sides end up gunning for you then....both sides have reasont o be suspiscious of everyone
*she shrugs* In the majority of cases they ask me to kill them rather than return them to their respective governments... *she winks* I won't be. But don't you be surprised if at the end of the day, one side is impressed by my survival.... and gives me a chance.... but until that day... *she waved and headed back inside the building* see you around...
*She watches you leave and simply shakes her head* that girl is going to find herself on the wrong end of a firing squad if she doesn't watch it *She lights a amoke and turns, heading back out the gates...she had already missed her meeting... might as well see what she can dig up on her own*
