Fight Fyre with fire
*Lyeth sits in her room, one of many in the Lair, her chin in her hand, staring off into space. So much had happened recently, and not so recently the last fight with the GUARD had taken friends, even spouses, sisters, brothers, from many an unnatural, no matter what side they claimed. Lyeth herself was melancholy, she knew many didn't show the hurt, the pain, kept it inside and pretended they were strong enough to be unaffected, but no human (besides maybe her cousin, who wasn't human anymore anyway) could go through all that and remain untouched. Her heart hurt, she realized, and wondered how much more awful it must be for Leanne, or anyone else with empathy, in this place. And then many were missing of late she'd heard of it on the grapevine, but the cold hard fact was Heath was gone, it seemed. More than just Heath, Chris, Stephanie, many more. The Lair was half-empty despite the influx of several new ones like Spasm and Sonic and Medusa. Where were all her old friends? And could she be trusted anymore around them anyway?* DAMN you Aerik *tears fill her eyes, but TK keeps them back, keeps her face dry. Why hadn't he told them?? She /and/ Anaconda. A deep, wrenching sigh and Lyeth stands. Suddenly, she misses some non-Lair companionship, wants to escape the new faces and new problems and new worries and harken back to older, simpler days. Lyeth strolls from her room, waves to a few who greet her, and she seems cheery enough, then she ignites her gift under an exit that leads into the forest, and from there she streaks white flames, tinged with gold, behind her, using TK to smother it, keep it from finding oxygen and announcing her. Into the chilly clouds, and through them, until she's sopping wet and her own oxygen bubble is nearly depleted (at these heights, one cannot breathe), then she dips down again, spirits a bit higher after the heady exhilaration of flight, and she's already overhead the FLD's place. A mental sliver to try and connect with a PSI friend within, let her know Lyeth was about and heading in. Lyeth, already dry again using her own heat, hovers over the rooftop, hopes any securities are off, and waits patiently before she lands waits for clearance*
*Kelsin sits at her desk, doodling on a piece of legal sized paper, knowing she was supposed to be figuring out accounts payable and receivable, but not really caring. She tapped the pen to her cheek, doing a horrible rendition of "Jingle Bells". She stands and walks over to her oversized window, looking out over the city and wishing she was out on scout with her brother and Jerry. Growling, she turns and flings her pen across the room. Such tension and forboding. She couldn`t tell if it was from her or if she was absorbing it somehow from around her. Bloody geesh! She should know by now if she was reading someone else or if she were producing the thoughts herself!! Kelsin feels a presence and smiles as she looks up to the ceiling, sending a welcoming thought to her friend, Lyeth, up top. She makes sure, even tho she knows, that all systems are down for Lyeth`s entrance and waits patiently*
*Lyeth notes a few little lights blink out she assumes that means its safe to land. The FLD changed theior security systems constantly and she was hard pressed to keep up with them. With the grace that stems from years of flying and landing, she touches down to the rooftop, a large, open place that could easily hold a helicopter, and ambles for the little shed-like structure that housed the steps leading downward and into the building proper. She almost smiles as she opens the door and /walks/ down the steps, the stairwell really too confining for flight. Several floors down, holding the location she felt Kelsin's greetings from, and she opens the door to the appropriate floor. All the locks are, thanks to Kelsin, unlocked. The Lair RUNners strolls into the hallway and down to the room Kelsin waits in then, throwing the door open with a huge TK blast meant to startle, she ignites and, on the wave of the TK slam, right after it, she rushes in on white flames for the tackle .*
*Kelsin stands in her gigantic office, waiting...waiting...what IS taking that girl so long? Patience is a virtue, one Kelsin doesn`t have often. Thinking to be sneaky, Kelsin sets up a "firewave". A cold fire that washes over the victim, not exactly hurting them, but stunning them enuf with extreme cold to go in for the kill so to speak. Suddenly, the door burst open, sending Kelsin backwards, but also triggering her little trap...letting out a small "eeek" as she sees Lyeth diving for her. She fires up and leaps to the ceiling, hoping to have dodged Lyeth enuf with her child`s play tactics*
*Thank goodness that TK blast also, tho without knowing it, countered the coldfire, which would have certainly stunned the other. Since it was a pressure blast, the TK bullies its way thru the trap as well, leaving a nice, clear tunnel for Lyeth to barrel herself thru and she sees Kelsin move, moving with her, angling upward to tackle her in mid-air if need be, a huge grin plastered on her face. Both were veterans, both played hard, but it /was/ play and the shift of one would most likely be easily accommodated by the other, who was used to battle situations, used to making last-second directional alterations. TK again, a spongy, soft barrier to prevent Kelsin from going any higher up or back, or to the sides like a pillow squeezing her on all sides, to hold her for the tackle. Should she fight it enuff, she'd wiggle out of it, but if not, and if not /SOON/, well then *
*Kelsin, her jaw dropping momentarily at the UNFAIR way Lyeth was playing, gathered her thoughts together, pushing forward with her mind, trying to get enuf of a grip on the edges to spin Lyeth out a wee bit. Feeling for the soft spots on the "pillow" Kelsin shoves a mental finger in, prying the edges up, using her flames to widen the cracks, moving at the last second, watching with a grin as Lyeth shoots past her and splats against the ceiling. Feeling a bit devilish, Kelsin sends out small tendrils of both hot and cold fire, intermittently scorching and freezing Lyeth`s little bum, giggling the whole time*
*Oh, now talk about /unfair/ a completely defenseless ('cept for that recourser shield Aerik left in her head) RUNner, now the poor sport was using /psionics/ and in a very wicked manner. Of course, they work.. she has no defense against them and kelsin's actions aren't quite an attack, though she should be careful she doesn't hit the shield and attack Aerik inadvertently. Lyeth /would/ have splatted into the wall if Kelsin hadn't made her poor mind go mildly loopy for a short time she does spin out, she even /spins/ in mid-flight like a plane going down might. And again, thank goodness for that TK. Even as she loses her bearings, she steadies herself with TK, pausing in flight, hanging there for a milli-second as her mind comes back to its own, and offering more than enuff time for Kelsin to make an escape from the pillow. The tendrils of hot and cold find their mark, however, as Lyeth is suspended in her own TK. A small YELP and she frowns, her nose scrunching at the giggles by the other and, refusing to let it end like /this/, she gets a wicked idea to do a few things of her own. TK whips back and around, invisible as it always is, and aims a huge hand for Kelsin's own butt cheeks, for a very solid smack on her rear should it connect, and which will keep spanking her even if she runs away. In the meantime, TK shields her sore bottom from Kelsin's mean-bean attack*
*Kelsin eeks as the TK hand finds her butt and glowers at Lyeth, flying like a mad fiend around the office, dodging the hand that seeks to smack her hiney, trying to devise a way to get back at Lyeth, still happy `bout the hotbutt she gave her. She swerves and glides dodging, using all her abilities to move in the close quarters coming up with a plan to retaliate. Quickly, she maneuvers around Lyeth, coming up behind her and moving quickly, hoping the hand strikes Lyeth or at the least dissipates. Just as speedily, she goes under Lyeth, sending out sheets of coldfire to freeze her tootsies*
*By this time, Lyeth would be situated and free of her TK steadying binds she giggles madly as Kelsin flashes around the room to escape that invisible hand, which isn't overly easy to dodge, especially when one can't see it. Lyeth darts about the room as a fish might underwater, little spurts of movement here and there, to follow Kelsin, watch the action, even as she absently rubs her cold/hot rump. When Kelsin maneuvers to come up under and behind, Lyeth, who can obviously /see/ what's happening, alters the hand to be more of a tether, grasp Kelsin by the ankle, and pull back /hard/. It /should/ work, seeing as how Kelsin isn't expecting it and can't see it. then again, she /is/ a telepath, and if she should she use some of Aerik's methods *
*Kelsin sends out probes with her mind, all the while trying to dodge a freakin` spanking hand. She glowers with concentration, cursing slightly under her breath as her little sabotage doesn't work against Lyeth. Quietly she reaches out, sending light tendrils to pry at what is chasing her. She was taught by the best, tho she hates to admit it. Cautiously, she sends out a backlash on the invisible thing attacking her, having the thoughts travel up and back to the original sender, not directly attacking Lyeth, but fuzzing her about the edges, twisting the way reality is perceived. Silently she crosses her fingers, hoping it works.*
*The mental tendrils snake over the TK , find nothing, of course as its not sentient but the tendrils weren't going for that anyway. She does something slightly unexpected she rides the TK lash back to its source, back to Lyeth a very clever thing to do. The mental fingers find purchase, swirl the edges of perception and suddenly things start to tilt Lyeth's eyes bug in surprise. All her own personal mental shielding only keep /in/ her own thoughts, they don't guard against /this/ kind of intrusion. She feels as if she were drunk, or on LDS (heh) everything tipping, tilting in fact, so is she. Slowly, she up-ends, her powers keeping her afloat, but her vision so skewed, she's shortly upside down, hair streaming for the floor, butt up against the ceiling as if she were sitting on it were it the floor, cross-legged, and dreamy of expression, tripping* Ooooh *she watches the pretty colors swirl before her eyes. The TK spanking hand vanishes*
*Kelsin sighs in relief, giggling at Lyeth and keeping up the charade "making" inanimate objects dance and swirl, grinning at the desired affect, again attacking with intermittent hot and cold mixes of fire, flying around the poor, LDS-like affected Lyeth*
*Lyeth grins for one who's never used drugs before, she's finding this pretty cool. But with her rear butted up against the ceiling, the hot and cold attacks just zip out and sting her thighs, which make her wince and pull her back to herself as best she can feels like rubber bands are zinging against her legs. She frowns. Okay, enough of this shaking herself out of it, she does a last-ditch effort TK sings high, and a cocoon of it seals Kelsin inside it's a protective barrier, because just after that, Lyeth not fully in control of her facilities yet, /all/ the furniture in the room, /all/ of it, goes flying towards Kelsin, sticks like magnetized things to and around that casing, entombs the telepath who, Lyeth knows, is far from 'out', even with this kind of attack. Only one advantage her flames can't reach out of the shield *
*kelsin eeps as she is encased, not really having too strong of a defense against TK attacks, but trying to think clearly around a dulled mind, tries to figure something out. She pushes at the caseing, looking for a way out, looking for weaknesses. She concentrates until she`s worked a soft spot into the cocoon. She "punches" a psi hand thru the barrier, flicking Lyeth mentally in the head, trying to clear Lyeth`s thoughts for her* Ya big goon! Lemme out!
Ooch! *Lyeth blinks as Kelsin rescinds her mental workings and instead psi's out of the TK barrier, plinking Lyeth in the head. Thoughts clear, Whitefyre blinks again at the shell with all the furniture attached to it and grins broadly* Serves ya right, you poop. *a small giggle and Lyeth rights herself, suffering from a headrush as she does so, scowling under it* Ugs. Headache! *she lowers herself to the floor and commands the fixtures and fittings to settle back to the floor, tho not in their places as she couldn't remember where they all went, releasing Kelsin afterwards, her smirk insufferable, saying /I won, I won, I won!!/, though she says nothing at all. Then she glances to the clock on the wall, as it resettles, and gasps* Ohmigosh! I have a dentist appointment at three! *it was 2:45 pm now how could she have forgotten? A fast flash back through the door, back up the stairs, to the roof, a mental tendril of BYE! SEE YA LATER! Floats back to Kelsin, who is shortly left alone to clean up after the vanished girl *
*Kelsin sinks to the floor with a laff and a sigh, looking around her and knowing how long it`s gonna take to straighten things up. Ah well, at least it took some of the tedious boredom away! With a laugh and a grin, Kelsin started in on straightening up*
