Training
~EI-QUE~
** She had already been posted at the new Australian Base. She
had been there a few weeks. Accustomed to the way things were
there, and quite content. So many of the people she worked
closely with had come along with her. The trio techie team, (to
her delight) and a few other skilled Hunters. Leader of the TP
division, and rightfully so. She felt her body splashed with the
light of the teleporter. Her skin first seemed to disintegrate,
then her muscles. Each fiber knit in her bones seemed to be
ripped gracefully away. Before she could register most of the
feelings she was already at her destination. A deep exhale, she
knew the calculated risks involved, and she would honestly rather
die in a plane wreck, or mangled in the steel of an automobile.
Slipping into the cold room. Her mind already registering the
different scents, the difference in temperatures, even the
difference in latitude and longitude. Felling vertigo and
disorientation sweep over her, and that too quickly passed. The
thing she felt the most had nothing to do with the aftermath of
the transport. Instead it was security. There the shielding was
phenomenal. One of those things one could rarely describe. Even
in the midst, and afterwards, one could not fathom the intensity
of the shielding at work. And very few were skilled enough to
admire it. A smile swept over pale lips for a breath of a moment
before a technician went over towards her. A quick scan, all her
body parts were indeed where they should be, no inconsistencies
were found. Though she had been reassured over a hundred times
the system was perfected she doubted this was true.
Why would they take these precautions then? Stepping then slowly
off the pad, and moving towards the door. A soft ** Thank you **
Echoed lightly off the metallic walls. And soon she was walking
towards the technicians room. There were a few checks she
wanted to run. Sure she could have monitored a technicians
thoughts from Oz, but she needed to do these things herself.
Pausing only for a moment while she passed the work-out area, in
sector 12. Seeing a familiar form pressed into a machine. Sweat
glistened like a fine mist had just fallen between them. Her
pause then turned to a longer hesitation as she watched Yvette.
**
~VENIN~
*chords of muscle stand out against glistening flesh as she once
more pulls the the weight forward..225 lbs, about the max she
would do on this machine..but someone else had the free weights
when she arrived, so she had settled for repitition and endurance
on this...stategies running through her mind, the discussion with
Bas last night had been the start of a complex plan, the ultimate
plan to bring down Aerik...the rest of the R.UNners were only a
by-line..she wanted Eclipse, and by starting with the lair
capture and perhaps gathering some of 'his' students she would
definatley get his attention...she hears someone pause outside
the door, but doesn't look...she was an anomoly one to be studied
and feared, yet respected...a former enemy turned ally is not one
to be trusted and she didn't blame them, she didn't really care
what they thought, as long as it didn't interfere with her goal*
** A small smile passed over her lips as she took a single step forward. Tilting her head every so slightly. Mousy brown hair, tied back into a ponytail though the longer bangs still falling over her eyes. Her features softened greatly as she watched Yvette. The woman indeed impressed her. To have that much strength, and that much endurance. ~Was there anything left here to feel? Was there anything aside from a hallow admiration? Should I even dare to acknowledge her? ~ Lips parted in a carefully selected greeting. Something that had to do with the surroundings. ** Yvette, a pleasure as always. There are so many thoughts I have misplaced since our last meeting. ** A slightly pause as she continued in a slow paced voice. ** Seeing you, I have recalled them all. You were supposed to finish teaching me the fine art of hand to hand combat. I am regretful to mention I have only practiced what you had taught me a few times a week. ** Another awkward silence. It had gotten to the point where it disturbed her to not be able to read the woman in front of her easily. She could force her way into her colleagues mind, but to what avail? Arms folded then across her chest. Prepared for the cold reception that would follow. But patient was she, and she could wait for some of the ice to melt. Yvette had at least given her that luxury. Pausing again offering Yvette an out. **Though I see that you are already occupied. I will leave you with your training.
*she had already figured out who it was at the door..the scent had long since come to her..* .I heard you were transferred *she continues to the pull the weights towards her...her tone almost dead of emotion as she talks* I'm certain you could find a suitable instructor over there *the weights return to their original position and she slowly stands up, on hand reaching for a towel...her mind racing with thoughts..should she use Ei-Que to further her plans?..why not? who supposedly knew her better as a R.UN.ner? If she could dupe Jesse into thinking she had some emotions then maybe she could convince everyone..*you should have worked beyond what I had taught you by now *a faint smile seems to slowly work across her lips only to fade almost as quick* Or have duties kept you too busy?
** Hands gripping her arms, her eyes averted to the few others in the room. One nodded in her direction as he continued to lift a large amount of weight at an alarming rate. She nodded towards him, in kind, moving to go. Convinced Yvette would not say anything, almost before she heard Yvettes familiar voice. The voice almost instantly made her heart feel sick. Prepared too for the words to be equally as cold. Turning her eyes towards Yvette as she spoke. She was not disappointed in either respect. The tone stung, the words sliced. ** You are very correct. It was just a useless recollection. ** Blinking as a few people seemed surprised either of them could still talk. Hearing their thoughts press towards her shields disturbed her more. Scolding herself as well for allowing her mind to get too comfortable in this place. To lower her shields enough to hear common thoughts. Relying too much on the massive physic net over her. She slammed them back up, after a few cold stares at her colleagues. ** I have been terribly busy. That and you were the sole motivation to refine my body aside from GUARD regulations. ** She paused her face falling to a cold emotionless stare as Yvette smiled. She took this small motion and weighted it carefully. Dissected this against everything she knew. It felt good to see her smile. Warm in a way. Debating too if this is what the woman before her went through with her. She stared for what seemed like a good portion of a minute in silence. Anything said to her in that time would have been filed away in her brain, as she addressed this most startling development. She didnt offer a smile back instead she asked. ** Do you wish to be left by yourself now?
*a hint of sarcastic laughter seems to enter her voice* your motivation? so you can beat the crap outta me? *the towel runs briskly through her hair* I think I'm about done here now...*she nods towards the other room* care to practice?...*she looks you over briefly before looking at the others around the room* or talk? *..she could just imagine the rumours that would fly now...the two former traitors, talking...perhaps they were plotting against G.U.A.R.D. ..though for the two perhaps talking was best...after all, this was one who knew Eclipse the best, perhaps even his weaknesses..and Ei-Que was one she would request for the Lair invasion*
** Jesse was not stupid. Knowing too even her layers had not melted that quickly. Even for the faintest smile. It had taken years, only after meeting the RUNners had it seemed to dissolve one small part at a time. This disturbed her the most. Something was misplaced. She made a note of it and moved on. Also recalling that she had made a special point of addressing Yvette to remind her that she indeed was a friend. As much as she wanted Yvette back, she knew this might not be a case. The more involved parts of her mind pressed this information, and motives, further back to tear apart as she continued looking to Yvette. Her features softened still, as she tilted her head a touch more. ** Beat the crap out of you? Hardly. I admire your physical prowess. I wish mine to be more like yours, a so not to be defeated on such a minor technicality. ** Watching Yvette carefully as she asked to talk. Saying in the best form of tact possible. ** I do believe talking would spur unneeded suspicions. I would be more than happy to spar with you, perhaps during less incrimination conversation may ensue. **
*a slight smirk briefly creases her lips* I dont think that will happen, but we can get you to an acceptable level *she nods as she notes the intense interest of those around* very well, you may have a point there.*..she can almost feel the perked ears fade back in dissapointment* how is your strength training coming?
** Nodding again as she nodded to those who so rudely included themselves on their conversation. ** No I will be beyond acceptable, if I choose to peruse this. ** Moving slowly towards the room Yvette nodded towards. ** I am increasing my strength at a disappointing 0.5339% each week. It would at this current rate take me 3 years 9 months and 21 days to double my strength. ** Knowing that this too would disappoint Yvette she added . ** As soon as my work load is shifted I predict a variable closer to 1.5% to 2% per week. ** She moved into the room as she spoke removing a few items that might disrupt their training. Removing the watch, com-link, and the necklace she actually bought herself. She stretched as she continued. ** Although my agility and endurance has increased drastically. They both are closer to a 3% a week, which is alarming considering the amount of training I have done. One session a week, 4 hours a session. ** Stretching out her legs then, indeed she was incredibly limber. **
thats better than some *a brief glance pointedly aimed at one of the eavesdroppers* Don't push too hard, despite your calculations you will hit a wall, point where your body won't go any further.*she follows Ei-que into the room*..at that point work your endurance, then move towards more strength..*her emerald eyes track Jesses movements as she stretches out, gauging differences, judging weight...automatically noting improvements* where do you want to start?
I suppose. My speed is at the predicted increase of 1.002% per session. I double my speed in 1 year 11 months 7 days at this projected course. Highly disappointing. I had hoped to be a decent match the next time we would meet. As not to bore you. I have been looking too, though the computer for alternate styles of fighting. I have yet to incorporate any of these into what I currently know. ** Her muscles stretched and her mind ready for combat. She closed her eyes for a moment, mentally preparing herself as well. Reaching tentatively towards Yvettes mind. Her minds fingers pressed. Tracing over the shields there, as strong if not stronger than before. Automatically noting improvements. ** What was next on your agenda to teach me? ** She stopped stretching, extending her hand and flipping the window peering towards the eavesdroppers closed. As soon as it shut, the door did as well. A faint smile passed over her lips. Still as frail as a dandelions fluff it seemed. ** I am ready
Learn not to judge your progress upon others...base it upon yourself *she shakes her head as she moves further into the room* I was born into G.U.A.R.D., trained and raised to fight..and my powers tend towards that..*She stands, an almost amused look crossing her face as the blinds and door close, a warning frown replacing it as she feels mental fingers along her shields* good, learn those styles and figure out how to incorporate them..the more you know the better off you are...even if your opponents better than you, changing style may throw them off and give you an edge *as she says the last she moves in, one fist flying towards jesses stomach as she drops into a crouch, the other hand reaching for the back of a thigh to pull off balance as she rolls away*
** This would be the worst case scenario, she rationalized. Against someone more skilled, who she could not read or manipulate. Listening carefully as she see Yvette move. Cautious, but not nearly as fast, she is punched, she is tripped, and thrown to the ground. Surprised, she turned off how it much that one move hurt. She hadnt had to do that while training with herself. Instead moved from the ground forcing her body up, her lungs to take a deep breath before flipping upwards. Landing gracefully on her feet, stanching herself carefully. ** Should I try to apply them now? Perhaps you can show me the flaws in the form. ** Causally said, and not waiting for an answer. Instead she moved. Fast, though no where near Yvettes speed. Dropping lower, as for better balance, nearly hugging the ground as she charged Yvette. She knew charging was out of ill taste, but one had to approach the other. Drawing closer, faking a punch, instead spinning behind Yvette to try to elbow the woman in the back of the skull.**
Not fast enough *yeah, it hadn't been the nicest thing to attack without warning, but what enemies gonna warn?...* react, dont think...*she smiles almost coldly as the quesiton is asked, but as Jesse charges her she can almost guess that those would be applied without an answer..she purposely moves slow as she sidesteps the charge* now you see you would have been better.... *she lets jesses elbow hit her and steps to the side while turning, one hand reaching for the shoulder..the other near the waist to flip Jesse on her stomach*..off if you had approached as you asked the question *she continues as if she had never been interrupted*or better yet You should have waited for me to attack
I suppose ** Breathed out as she listened, plotted, defended, and watched her form. Allowing Yvette to turn her body in the air. Much like cat, contorting herself not landing on her stomach instead on her feet. ** But would you have attacked? Neither of us have time to play a game of waiting.** She stood, straightening her shirt, as to assure herself her lab uniform would not be ripped. Almost as if it were in the same motion she was in the air again, with a perfected roundhouse aimed at Yvettes head. Reacting then. Making her breathing pan out, instead of gasps. Breathing through her nose, all except saying then. ** What did you want to discuss?
very good *she nods appreciatively as she watches you land*perhaps not, but you didn't know for sure * a slight smirk pulls at the corner of her mouth as she watches jesse play with her shirt, then it turns to a faint smile of approval as the roundhouse impacts rocking her head slightly* Excellent * a punch is aimed at the still extended thigh while she kicks out trying to take out the other leg* discuss? what else...my favorite topic........R.UN.ners
